Passionately crafting custom solid wood furniture and gifts out of a one-man shop located in Denver Colorado.
WhiteTee Woodworking was born out of a desire to work with my hands and create lasting pieces of solid wood furniture. I have always been interested in the natural beauty of wood and creating heirloom quality works of art and functionality.
I consider the function, form, material, and final location of each project I take on. Here are some things I think about when taking on a new project.
Function: What is the purpose of the item? Is it a place for storage, a conversation piece, or maybe a meaningful gift for a loved one? The function of the project is the first step in the design process.
Form: What shape or style will this project have? Sharp, crisp lines or smooth and subtle curves? The seven principles of design (balance-rhythm-pattern-emphasis-contrast-unity-movement) are heavily influential to the final form of the piece.
Material: I take great joy in the material selection part of a project. I work with a wide variety of lumber both domestic and exotic. Woods of the same species can have great variation in color and grain and selecting the perfect wood for each individual project is a rewarding experience.
Location: There can be constraints on sizes based on the final location of the project. Is there a prevailing style in the room or house that needs to be taken into account in the design? The type and application of finish heavily depends on the item’s final resting place and exposure levels.
