Reverse Book-Matched Walnut Serving Platter
This piece was crafted from two reverse book-matched pieces of walnut and accented with hand cut bowtie inlays. Reverse book-matched means that both pieces came sequentially from the same log and were alternated and joined back together. These beautiful purpleheart bowties are the natural color of the wood (no stain) and also serve as a structural element to keep the board from splitting over time. The base of the platter is also made from matching walnut pieces. This platter was hand sanded and finished with a hard wax oil (same type of finish used for wood floors and countertops for its durability and its ability to be repaired).
This piece is 7 1/4” wide, 20 1/4” long, and 2 3/4” tall.
